Aussie Hoops is a national program which provides an environment where children of all abilities can achieve on the court – and reap the rewards of skill development, enhanced self-esteem, social cooperation and grassroots sports participation.

DOMESTIC COMP

Our Domestic basketball is a local social competition run by Swan Hill Basketball Association for new or experienced players.  This competition can be a pathway to representative and more advanced basketball. Our Age groups are U10’s, U12’s, U14’s, U16’s, U18’s and Senior Open Comp.

SQUAD REP

Our Junior Swan Hill Flyers is a higher level of basketball than what is on offer at a domestic level. Teams from U12’s, U14’s, U16’s and U18’s will committ to tournaments that SHBA chooses to go to in Victoria. It is also a pathway to other State and National Basketball opportunities. 

CBL

The Country Basketball League is an open age home and away representative league held across three conferences in regional Victoria. Our Swan Hill Flyers CBL has a Women’s and Men’s side.

Ford Aussie Hoops is Basketball Australia’s official introductory program, providing a fun and inclusive Basketball experience for 5–7-year-olds that serves as an introduction to a lifetime of involvement in the game. In addition to promoting healthy and active lifestyles, the program serves as a platform for social development and inclusion – fostering stronger and more vibrant communities and individuals.

Domestic Competition

Swan Hill Basketball Association run a domestic local competition for all – new and experienced players. The Junior competition caters for children who want to play basketball for fun, to be active and enjoy competing in a weekly competition.

Season Dates – Summer Season starts 10th October 2023 through to 22 March 2024.

JUNIOR COMPETITION – Age Groups 2023

  • Under 10 Boys & Under 10 Girls – Born 2015 & 2016 – play Saturday morning.
  • Under 12 Boys & Under 12 Girls – Born 2013 & 2014
  • Under 14 Boys & Under 14 Girls – Born 2011 & 2012
  • Under 16 Boys & Under 16 Girls – Born 2009 & 2010
  • Under 19 Boys – Born 2006, 2007 & 2008 – Play Tuesday night.
  • Under 19 Girls – Born 2006, 2007 & 2008

For the Junior Competition Boys games are held on Wednesday nights & Girls games are held on Thursday nights.

  • Times for junior grades can range from 5pm to 8:20pm depending on the number of registrations.
  • Playing singlets are provided to junior players. All players must wear black basketball shorts with no pockets of stripes. Black shorts are available to be purchased in the basketball office.

Players register as individuals and are placed into even teams at the start of the season dependent on age, size, gender and ability. These teams will be notified a week before the competition commences on our website and social media.

Aussie Hoops Programs are also run on Saturday mornings. Aussie Hoops is run during school terms and SHBA offers a term 4 program for 6 to 8 weeks for children aged 5 to 8.

SENIOR OPEN COMPETITION

SHBA offers a senior competition that runs for about 10 weeks from October to December.  Players must be over 14 years of age to play and must play in the junior competition to be eligible to play in the senior grade.

  • Players organize their own teams, and all players must register through PlayHQ as individuals.
  • Individual players can register and notify the SHBA office they would like to play and are looking to join a team in the senior competition.
  • Game played Tuesday nights for Open Men & Women.
